Passive inactivity because you do not have specific instructions to do this or do that is a serious deficiency." ~ George C. Marshall
After World War II, Europe was left in physical and economical ruin. Millions were left penniless, starving and homeless. Many countries turned a blind eye to Europe's adversity. Under the leadership of George Marshall, the United States helped guide Europe through this tragedy, with a financial aid program called the Marshall Plan. The United States invested in this expenditure to regain political stability and a healthy world economy. Most importantly, the Plan was to bring hope to suffering Europeans. George Marshall left a long-lasting legacy in Europe. Countries across the continent became self-sufficient again and were able to fight the growing spread of Communism.
"There are few men whose qualities of mind and character have impressed me so deeply as those of General Marshall. " ~ Winston Churchill
